For over 30 years, Kevin F. Donoghue & Associates has provided comprehensive risk management and insurance consulting services to private and public sector clients—including dozens of hospitals and healthcare facilities. The following “cases” outline some of the services we have delivered to our clients.

Massachusetts City
Over the last decade, Kevin F. Donoghue & Associates has functioned as the City’s external risk management department. We assist the City in the effective coordination of its risk management and insurance programs by continually monitoring operations and exposures to loss to ensure that its risk management programs remain current and adequately address and treat new exposures to loss. We have assisted the City by developing a “live-document” Risk Management Manual—with ongoing updates—and we organized and serve as facilitators of the City’s Safety Committee. In addition, we manage the periodic insurance marketing process by pre-qualifying agents/brokers and TPAs; preparing specifications; assigning insurance markets; addressing underwriting questions; reviewing and analyzing proposals; and making recommendations.

New England Water Authority
This water authority originally hired Kevin F. Donoghue & Associates to conduct a insurance program audit, with one of the target goals being to review the suitability of the Authority’s group captive arrangement. The next year, the Authority retained our firm to manage the insurance marketing process: pre-qualify brokers/TPAs, assist in selecting the participants, assign markets, prepare specifications, and offer a recommendation based on our analysis.

Massachusetts City
During our years of service for this client, our continuing services have included review of leases and contracts to assure compliance with insurance requirements, review of claims and negotiation with claims personnel on troublesome claims, and aided in the preparation of specifications and marketing efforts. We have worked with the City to provide coverage for its hospital. We conducted a market survey for the Directors & Officers Liability coverages for the City, the hospital, and the electric department. We also performed a specific review and audit for the Electric Department including marketing and alternative assessment.
