For over 30 years, Kevin F. Donoghue & Associates has provided comprehensive risk management and insurance consulting services to private and public sector clients—including dozens of hospitals and healthcare facilities. The following “cases” outline some of the services we have delivered to our clients.

Healthcare System
This hospital system includes 6 hospitals, nursing homes, home health organizations, integrated physicians groups as well as nursing homes. When first retained by this hospital system, we completed an extensive audit of the loss exposures of all members. We recommended a joint purchase of insurance and managed a comprehensive marketing effort, analyzed proposals, and made recommendations for purchase which saved the hospitals substantial sums and provided them with better coverage. In addition, we conducted a feasibility study for the development of a captive insurance program for the hospital system. Ultimately, we helped structure a self-insurance trust arrangement which has saved the System millions of premium dollars over a period of 15 years.

Home and Hospital for the Aged
Kevin F. Donoghue & Associates has served this entity regarding its Property and Casualty exposures. In our long relationship, we have conducted feasibility studies, prepared bid specifications and managed complete marketing efforts, analyzed proposals and made recommendations for purchase. In addition, we annually review all policies to be sure that they are in compliance with the purchase order. We have provided specific services regarding Directors & Officers Liability, insurance requirements for contractors and other service providers, and claims and loss reviews. We helped to design a self insured workers compensation program and were able to maintain reasonable windstorm coverage after Hurricane Andrew.
